This was it. The final cache of CAM 2008. Just over 200 miles away from my house. More specifically, this is the path in to where it was, described as a fire access road. This was great. It made the trip in a nice walk. Plus I was there well before sunset for a change.
Fortunately, the location of this one called out to me somehow. The GPS coordinates were pretty close and that helped a lot. This is what the cache looks like. "S" was the final code I needed to decode the location of the picnic the next day.
Since I had daylight remaining, I decided to go after a couple more caches. Here, at what was listed as the trailhead to the CAM cache, there is another cache.
In this picture is a walking stick I picked up somewhere along the way. I forget where. Anyway, the bottom of the tree it's leaning against looked like a good spot for a cache, and there was supposed to be one near here.
And down in the stump there was, sure enough, a cache container. But it was a decoy. It contained just a message to keep looking for the cache, which was a micro cache. I found the cache soon after but I was glad the decoy was there to remind me I was looking for a micro cache.
This critter was also there. I hadn't seen one of these before. It looked like a cross between a bumblebee and a moth. So I punched "bumblebee moth" into Google and found that this creature is commonly known as . . . a Bumblebee Moth.
